BRITISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, (SHANGHAI)
31r,
I THE BUND,
28th March 1918.
406
This Chamber has had under consideration the necessity of securing adequate protection for Trade Marks in China and with this object in view a special Joint Sub-Committee was recently appointed
by the China Association and the Chamber to submit a report on this important matter.
I enclose a copy of this report herewith which embodies the unanimous recommendations of that Joint Committee and which has received the approval of the General Committee of this Chamber. I understand it has also been adopted by the Committee of the China Association.
It is the opinion of my Committee that in view of the Bill that is now before Parliament for the amendment of the Trade Marks Act of 1905 it is important that the result of the joint deliberatione of the China Association and the Chamber
H.M. Gövernment as early as possible and would
be communicated
suggest that a wire be sent to the Foreign Office on the subject.
may add that a copy of the above mentioned report is being forwarded to the Tientsin, Hankow and other Chambers for their information.
